“Joseph, a Levite from Cyprus, whom the apostles called Barnabas.”

Joseph, who was addressed by the apostle Barnabas, as a Levite from Cyprus. In fact, whose reputation means the child of fervor.

“But Barnabas took him and brought him to the apostles. He told them how Saul on his journey had seen the Lord and that the Lord had spoken to him, and how in Damascus he had preached fearlessly in the name of Jesus.”

While sharing his experience, Barnabas brought him before the apostles and told them publicly that he had met and met the Lord on the way and that he had communicated with him. He also explained exactly how Jesus had boldly introduced the name of Jesus to Damascus. 

“When he came to Jerusalem, he tried to join the disciples, but they were all afraid of him, not believing that he really was a disciple.”

When he arrived in Jerusalem as a disciple, he also tried to join the believers. They were all afraid of him at that time because they could not believe that he, too, had come here as a devoted aficionado.

“News of this reached the ears of the church in Jerusalem, and they sent Barnabas to Antioch.”

“Then Barnabas went to Tarsus to look for Saul.”

“And when he found him, he brought him to Antioch. So for a whole year Barnabas and Saul met with the church and taught great numbers of people. The disciples were called Christians first at Antioch.”

Barnabas brought Saul to Antioch. He found Saul and went to Tarsus, where he found him and brought him to Antioch. They met with the church for exactly one year. He gave wisdom to the Lord’s people. There, the disciples of Antioch were first referred to as Christians.

Then Paul and Barnabas answered them boldly: “We had to speak the word of God to you first. Since you reject it and do not consider yourselves worthy of eternal life, we now turn to the Gentiles.”

First of all, it was necessary for all of you to say God’s words, But when you have received them if you put them aside, then you will prove to God that you are not worthy of eternal life, and you will turn to the Gentiles. Paul and Barnabas made this known to all.

“When they arrived at Salamis, they proclaimed the word of God in the Jewish synagogues. John was with them as their helper.”

Conspiracies and persecutions continued against Paul and Barnabas, and their main objective was to drive Paul and Barnabas out of the kingdom. In order to achieve this goal, the Jews incited high-ranking religious women and state-led men to mislead and achieve success.

“This brought Paul and Barnabas into sharp dispute and debate with them. So Paul and Barnabas were appointed, along with some other believers, to go up to Jerusalem to see the apostles and elders about this question.”

They came to this conclusion later because they did not have any minor disagreement or argument with Paul and Barnabas. Paul, Barnabas, and a few other members were sent to the apostles and elders in Jerusalem to be qualified to go to Jerusalem and to find answers to their questions.

“Certain individuals came down from Judea to Antioch and were teaching the believers: “Unless you are circumcised, according to the custom taught by Moses, you cannot be saved.”

According to the word of the Lord, only those who are circumcised according to the custom of Moses will be saved.

“The time has come,” he said. “The kingdom of God has come near. Repent and believe the good news!”

The only way to be saved is through circumcision according to the Mosaic Law, not the biblical gospel that Jesus brought with him.

“Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name given under heaven by which we must be saved.”

Circumcision is the only way to be saved according to the Mosaic Law, but it is not the biblical gospel that Jesus brought; in addition, he told everyone that salvation is possible only through faith and the grace of Christ.

“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith – and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God.”

“Not by works, so that no one can boast.”

Jesus brought the good news from the Biblical gospel, that it is not possible for anyone to be salvated or saved by His works unless it is possible only through faith and grace in Christ.

“They had such a sharp disagreement that they parted company. Barnabas took Mark and sailed for Cyprus.”

“But Paul chose Silas and left, commended by the believers to the grace of the Lord.”

At one point, a sharp disagreement arose between Barnabas and Paul, which resulted in their separation. At that time, Barnabas went to Cyprus with Mark, replacing Paul. Silas, on the other hand, was chosen by Paul and left after receiving praise from his brothers for the Lord’s favor.

“You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.”

God sometimes uses sinister for good. Like Paul and Barnabas, there was disagreement between them, but in the end, it was this disagreement that paid off.

“If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”

“For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.”

As Scripture says, “Anyone who believes in him will never be put to shame.”

“For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile – the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him.”

For, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

On the face of the earth, we need to develop into men and women who will encourage and trust each other. For example, Barnabas was the most faithful man in the New Testament church. Will you also develop in that way? Do you give people the benefit of the doubt, or do you take it for granted? The Lord wants all who hear this message today to trust in Christ Jesus.

“For he says, “In the time of my favor I heard you, and in the day of salvation I helped you.” I tell you, now is the time of God’s favor, now is the day of salvation.”

According to the word of the Lord, there must be people in this world who will encourage and trust each other. Listen to the opinions of others and trust them and give them the benefit of the doubt so that they may receive the gift of eternal life on the day of redemption.

“Just as people are destined to die once, and after that to face judgment.”

The Lord wants all who hear His message today to believe in Christ Jesus. Because no one of us can be sure that morrow will come. But we know for sure that after death, the moment of our verdict comes.

Then the LORD said to Cain, “Where is your brother Abel?” “I don’t know,” he replied. “Am I my brother’s keeper?”

As adherents of Christianity, we must all find time to be benevolent about each other. You must always be active for the bliss and welfare of others, for their happiness and comfort, for their prosperity! You must always remember that you are the protector of your brothers.

“So this weak brother or sister, for whom Christ died, is destroyed by your knowledge.”

“When you sin against them in this way and wound their weak conscience, you sin against Christ.”

“Therefore, if what I eat causes my brother or sister to fall into sin, I will never eat meat again, so that I will not cause them to fall.”

Society will create more confusion among you; you will face different problems. Even so, owning one is still beyond the reach of the average person. Today, you become too busy not to worry about the welfare of the people around you, and busyness becomes an excuse for your negligence.

“My fellow prisoner Aristarchus sends you his greetings, as does Mark, the cousin of Barnabas.”

Luke informs you that Barnabas is a Levite whose previous generation lived on the island of Cyprus where some Jews were settled by the Diaspora, who was Mark’s cousin and evangelist.

“Sold a field he owned and brought the money and put it at the apostles’ feet.”

Barnabas was first referred to as a landowner who sold some of the lands he owned and generously donated all the acquired value to the apostles in Jerusalem.

While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.”

“So after they had fasted and prayed, they placed their hands on them and sent them off.”

It is said of Barnabas that some years later, God Himself, along with Paul, appointed him an apostle to the Gentiles.

“I tell you, it will be more bearable on that day for Sodom than for that town.”

Mores has it that Barnabas was one of those whom Christ Jesus sent to all the cities as a hoar lamb among the wolves.

“But when the apostles Barnabas and Paul heard of this, they tore their clothes and rushed out into the crowd, shouting.”

Barnabas spent many years evangelism the gospel in distant lands. It is said of Barnabas that some years later, God Himself, along with Paul, appointed him an apostle to the Gentiles.

“Then the church throughout Judea, Galilee and Samaria enjoyed a time of peace and was strengthened. Living in the fear of the Lord and encouraged by the Holy Spirit, it increased in numbers.”

Barnabas was not afraid to stand firmly by the side of God’s messengers in times of trouble. He was the first person to share his personal warmth and companionship with Saul of Tarsus at a time when all the inhabitants of Jerusalem were still throwing stones at him.

“Or is it only I and Barnabas who don’t have the right not to work for a living?”

Paul last-mentioned Barnabas, although there were differences of opinion between Barnabas and him, in no case did they disagree. They cited this as the main reason for the church’s support for them a few years later.

“So Saul stayed with them and moved about freely in Jerusalem, speaking boldly in the name of the Lord.”

The disciples in Jerusalem knew Saul only as a terrible oppressor and murderer of the saints, which is why they feared him. Followers rarely want to believe that Saul, the originator of the terror, has converted. Those who could not believe, however, turned away from Saul out of hatred and suspicion. But Barnabas came forward and showed great generosity.

“He was a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and faith, and a great number of people were brought to the Lord.”

According to Paul, Barnabas was a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and faith. Luke then followed suit. He spoke to Barnabas and preached the Lord everywhere he went, and many people joined him.

“When the believers learned of this, they took him down to Caesarea and sent him off to Tarsus.”

The Lord introduced Saul to the apostles through Barnabas so that he himself could tell them the story of his miraculous conversion and how he had vigorously preached in Damascus. Later, when Paul made his debut in a larger form, he returned peacefully to the role of an assistant at Barnabas.

“The other Jews joined him in his hypocrisy, so that by their hypocrisy even Barnabas was led astray.”

Christians preached prejudice-free, the apostle Peter, and some other proselytizing Jews in Antioch, pretending to eat with non-Jews.

“We sent Timothy, who is our brother and co-worker in God’s service in spreading the gospel of Christ, to strengthen and encourage you in your faith.”

“So that no one would be unsettled by these trials. You know quite well that we are destined for them.”

Did Barnabas do so well? In this context, Paul knows that it is the responsibility of a minister to encourage the church in the kingdom. Barnabas was one of the ministers sent to encourage you and to build faith in God.

“When he arrived and saw what the grace of God had done, he was glad and encouraged them all to remain true to the Lord with all their hearts.”

Barnabas wisely encouraged the people by pointing them to the right path to God through the strength and purity of his heart and led them on the path to the coming kingdom of God. He encouraged all members of Antioch to devote themselves to the Lord, devoting their whole hearts to God’s purpose.

“You are to abstain from food sacrificed to idols, from blood, from the meat of strangled animals and from sexual immorality. You will do well to avoid these things. Farewell.”

The Jewish brothers in Jerusalem told them that they did not want to impose on them a greater fardel than these essential things. According to them, the only thing you have to do is to stay away from blood, sexual fornication, things that are devoted to strife, things that are suffocating, and lust. Do not desire or covet any of these. 

“But God said to him, ‘You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?”

Christ is the source of your comfort, not your work or your wealth!

“With them they sent the following letter: The apostles and elders, your brothers, To the Gentile believers in Antioch, Syria and Cilicia: Greetings.”

“We have heard that some went out from us without our authorization and disturbed you, troubling your minds by what they said.”

“So we all agreed to choose some men and send them to you with our dear friends Barnabas and Paul.”

“Men who have risked their lives for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

“Therefore we are sending Judas and Silas to confirm by word of mouth what we are writing.”

Encouragement is the act of giving hope or promise in the basic sense. They wrote a letter to the Jewish brethren in Syria and Cilicia, asking them not to perform the Jewish law, especially circumcision, a practice that annoyed the Gentiles because they were reluctant to observe it.

“So they were sent off and went down to Antioch, where they gathered the church together and delivered the letter.”

“The people read it and were glad for its encouraging message.”

They received the light of hope that, as Gentiles, they could reach the goal set before them in order to overcome their sins. When the brothers in Antioch found out, they were overjoyed. 

“For I desire mercy, not sacrifice, and acknowledgment of God rather than burnt offerings.”

The Gentiles were attracted because the letter gave them the hope that despite being infidels, they would receive the gift of salvation and reach the goal set before them without having to go through direct Judaism to get rid of their sins. Mercy is better than their abandonment.

“But woe to you who are rich, for you have already received your comfort.”

The wealth of the rich is temporary happiness. They acquire only material wealth all their lives. This is the only wealth they get, and it is a comfort that is temporary in every way. The only true reward is eternal life, with which there is no comparison of wealth.

“And I’ll say to myself, “You have plenty of grain laid up for many years. Take life easy; eat, drink and be merry.”

It is possible to get comfort from material things, but its effects are only temporary. It happens when someone takes a frustrated friend to a restaurant or buys him or her flowers. Does a depressed person feel good? Yes – temporarily. This same thing can be narrated for a contestant who gets consolation prizes after he loses.

“For just as we share abundantly in the sufferings of Christ, so also our comfort abounds through Christ.”

“If we are distressed, it is for your comfort and salvation; if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which produces in you patient endurance of the same sufferings we suffer.”

“And our hope for you is firm, because we know that just as you share in our sufferings, so also you share in our comfort.”

For as much as ye have much sorrow in Christ, so much comfort ye have through Christ. Now, if you apostles are sorry, it is only for your comfort and salvation that you may endure whatever affliction you may have. Or, if you have a momentary consolation, it is for your salvation. Even so, your hope for the Lord must be steadfast because you know that He will be a partner in your happiness as He is a partner in sorrow.

“For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they provide we might have hope.”

Everything that was written and told beforehand was written for your instruction so that you may hope for patience and comfort through the practice recorded in the Scriptures. Instead, God promises that if you study His written Word regularly and diligently, obey; he will give you patience, encouragement, and hope.

“For what is our hope, our joy, or the crown in which we will glory in the presence of our Lord Jesus when he comes? Is it not you?”

What is the cause of your expectancy, prospect, expectation? What is the result of all these emotions? These are the fruits of the coming of your Lord Jesus Christ. Isn’t his presence the reason?

“For just as we share abundantly in the sufferings of Christ, so also our comfort abounds through Christ.”

He encouraged people with the hope that they would be immortalized as a result of Christ’s return. He also informed them with the knowledge that it is possible to overcome their suffering through Christ. They, too, can give each other much help, wisdom, and stability if you try to be like Barnabas, the children of fervor.

“The other Jews joined him in his hypocrisy, so that by their hypocrisy even Barnabas was led astray.”

Whatever dissimulation was actually imposed at that time, the Jews once joined the Lord in that dissimulation, as a result of which all the cities, including Barnabas, were swept away by their dissimulation.

“At Iconium Paul and Barnabas went as usual into the Jewish synagogue. There they spoke so effectively that a great number of Jews and Greeks believed.”

“But the Jews who refused to believe stirred up the other Gentiles and poisoned their minds against the brothers.”

“So Paul and Barnabas spent considerable time there, speaking boldly for the Lord, who confirmed the message of his grace by enabling them to perform signs and wonders.”

“The people of the city were divided; some sided with the Jews, others with the apostles.”

“There was a plot afoot among both Gentiles and Jews, together with their leaders, to mistreat them and stone them.”

“But they found out about it and fled to the Lycaonian cities of Lystra and Derbe and to the surrounding country.”

“Where they continued to preach the gospel.”

In Iconium, they entered the synagogue together and spoke in front of all of them in such a way that a large number of people from both Jewish and Greek communities believed. But the unbelieving Jews aroused the minds of the Gentiles and led them against their brethren. Yet there they spoke boldly, relying on the Lord for a long time, signs and wonders being done by their hands and who testified to His grace.
