Benjamin was the youngest child of Jacob and Rachel, according to the Christian, Islamic, and Jewish customs. After twelve sons and one daughter, Benjamin was born in the family of Jacob. He is known to be the forefather of the Israelite Tribe of Benjamin.
In the Islamic holy book called the Quran, Benjamin is known as the virtuous son, who stayed with his father, Jacob, when all the other sons had conspired against Joseph. Here are a few Bible verses about Benjamin to help us know him better.
Bible Verses about Benjamin
Romans 11:1
“I ask then: Did God reject his people? By no means! I am an Israelite myself, a descendant of Abraham, from the tribe of Benjamin.”
And at this moment, I demanded to know if the almighty Heavenly Father turned down his men. In no possible way! I happen to be an Israelite myself, an heir of Abraham, from the ethnic group of Benjamin.
Revelation 7:8
From the tribe of Zebulun 12,000, from the tribe of Joseph 12,000, from the tribe of Benjamin 12,000.
There were twelve thousand of them from the ethnic group of Zebulun, twelve thousand from the ethnic group of Joseph, and twelve thousand from the ethnic group of Benjamin.
Genesis 49:27
“Benjamin is a ravenous wolf; in the morning he devours the prey, in the evening he divides the plunder.”
Benjamin, the youngest descendant of Jacob, is like an insatiable wolf; during the day, he feeds on his prey, and when the sun goes down, he splits the booty.
Chronicles 12:2
“They were armed with bows and were able to shoot arrows or to sling stones right-handed or left-handed; they were relatives of Saul from the tribe of Benjamin.”
They were well furnished with bows, and they were capable of shooting arrows or of throwing pebbles, left-handed or right-handed; they were the family members of Saul from the ethnic group of Benjamin.
Genesis 35:18
“As she breathed her last – for she was dying – she named her son Ben-Oni. But his father named him Benjamin.”
And as she stretched her lungs to take in her last breath, for she was on her deathbed waiting for her soul to depart from her body, she christened her son Ben-Oni. But later, he was named Benjamin by his father.
Chronicles 8:40
“The sons of Ulam were brave warriors who could handle the bow. They had many sons and grandsons – 150 in all. All these were the descendants of Benjamin.”
The descendants of Ulam were fearless and valiant fighters who very well knew how to tackle a bow and an arrow. They possessed a number of sons and grandsons, if counted, one hundred and fifty in total, and they were all family members of Benjamin.
Deuteronomy 33:12
About Benjamin he said: “Let the beloved of the LORD rest secure in him, for he shields him all day long, and the one the LORD loves rests between his shoulders.”
And he made a remark about Benjamin that he was the dearest of the almighty Heavenly Father and he should be allowed to hold on to the holy Lord in his pure heart, and this is because of the fact that he in is service of the almighty Heavenly Father throughout the day, and the one who receives the affection of the Supreme Being, happens to linger between his shoulders.
Genesis 46:21
“The sons of Benjamin: Bela, Beker, Ashbel, Gera, Naaman, Ehi, Rosh, Muppim, Huppim and Ard.”
The descendants of Benjamin are Ashbel, Rosh, Gera, Huppim, Naaman, Bela, Muppim, Ard, Ehi, and Beker.
Ezra 1:5
“Then the family heads of Judah and Benjamin, and the priests and Levites – everyone whose heart God had moved – prepared to go up and build the house of the LORD in Jerusalem.”
And then the masters of the families of Benjamin and Judah, and the clergymen and Levites – each and every person who was touched and inspired from the core of their hearts by the good God, the almighty Heavenly Father – made their preparations to go up to Jerusalem and construct the house of the holy Lord, the Supreme Being of all the universe.
Numbers 26:41
“These were the clans of Benjamin; those numbered were 45,600.”
And all these people belonged from the dynasty of Benjamin, and they were counted to be forty-five thousand and six hundred of them.
Numbers 2:22
“The tribe of Benjamin will be next. The leader of the people of Benjamin is Abidan son of Gideoni.”
And the ethnic group of Benjamin will be the upcoming ones. The master among the men of Benjamin is Abidan, a descendant of Gideoni.
Chronicles 7:10
“The son of Jediael: Bilhan. The sons of Bilhan: Jeush, Benjamin, Ehud, Kenaanah, Zethan, Tarshish and Ahishahar.”
Bilhan is the descendant of Jediael, and the descendants of Bilhan are Ehud, Ahishahar, Jeush, Kenaanah, Tarshish, Zethan, and Benjamin.
Zechariah 14:10
“The whole land, from Geba to Rimmon, south of Jerusalem, will become like the Arabah. But Jerusalem will be raised up high from the Benjamin Gate to the site of the First Gate, to the Corner Gate, and from the Tower of Hananel to the royal winepresses, and will remain in its place.”
The entire property from Geba to Rimmon, south of Jerusalem, will turn out to be like the Arabah. However, Jerusalem will be brought up at a higher point from the Benjamin Gate to the location of the First Gate, to the Corner Gate, and from the Tower of Hananel to the majestic wine presses, and will continue to stay in its position.

Some men had arrived from Ephraim, whose foundations were laid in Amalek; Benjamin was in the company of the people who came after you. From Makir, the masters had descended, from Zebulun, the people who carry a master’s employees.
Jeremiah 20:2
“He had Jeremiah the prophet beaten and put in the stocks at the Upper Gate of Benjamin at the LORD’s temple.”
It was because of him that Jeremiah, the fortune teller, was thrashed and laid down in the reservoir at the Upper Gate of Benjamin, at the place of worship of the almighty Supreme Being.
Jeremiah 37:13
But when he reached the Benjamin Gate, the captain of the guard, whose name was Irijah, Son of Shelemiah, the son of Hananiah, arrested him and said, “You are deserting to the Babylonians!”
But at the time he got as far as the Gate of Benjamin, the leader of the watchmen, who was known by the name of Irijah, the descendant of Shelemiah, who in turn was the descendant of Hananiah, took him in custody and said to him that he was turning his back on the Babylonians.
Jeremiah 38:7
“But Ebed-Melek, a Cushite, an official in the royal palace, heard that they had put Jeremiah into the cistern. While the king was sitting in the Benjamin Gate.”
But a Cushite, Ebed-Melek, an administrator in the majestic castle, could not help but hear that they had laid down Jeremiah into the reservoir; during the time the monarch was seated in the Benjamin Gate.
Genesis 35:24
“The sons of Rachel: Joseph and Benjamin.”
Benjamin and Joseph were known to be the offspring of Rachel.
Numbers 1:37
“The number from the tribe of Benjamin was 35,400.”
And the digits from the ethnic group of Benjamin was thirty-five thousand and four hundred.
Samuel 9:1
“There was a Benjamite, a man of standing, whose name was Kish son of Abiel, the son of Zeror, the son of Bekorath, the son of Aphiah of Benjamin.”
And a Benjamite was present at that place, a man of rank and reputation, who was known to be under the name of Kish, the descendant of Abiel, Abiel being the descendant of Zeror, Zeror being the descendant of Bekorath, and Bekorath was, in turn, the descendant of Aphiah of Benjamin.
Numbers 13:9
“From the tribe of Benjamin, Palti son of Raphu.”
And from the ethnic group of Benjamin, Palti was the descendant of Raphu.
Numbers 34:21
“Elidad son of Kislon, from the tribe of Benjamin.”
And from the ethnic group of Benjamin, Elidad was the descendant of Kilson.
Nehemiah 3:23
“Beyond them, Benjamin and Hasshub made repairs in front of their house; and next to them, Azariah son of Maaseiah, the son of Ananiah, made repairs beside his house.”
Far away from them, Hasshub and Benjamin made some renovations in front of their residence; and in their neighboring, Azariah, the descendant of Maaseiah who in turn was the descendant of Ananiah, made renovations by the side of his residence.
Nehemiah 12:34
“Judah, Benjamin, Shemaiah, Jeremiah.”
Benjamin, Jeremiah, Judah, and Shemaiah.
Numbers 1:36
“From the descendants of Benjamin: All the men twenty years old or more who were able to serve in the army were listed by name, according to the records of their clans and families.”

From the successors of Benjamin: Each and every man twenty years of age or above, who were capable of being in the service of the army were registered by their names, in accordance with the documentation of their tribes and families. “The first lot came up for the tribe of Benjamin according to its clans. Their allotted territory lay between the tribes of Judah and Joseph:”

“On the north side their boundary began at the Jordan, passed the northern slope of Jericho and headed west into the hill country, coming out at the wilderness of Beth Aven.”

“From there it crossed to the south slope of Luz (that is, Bethel) and went down to Ataroth Addar on the hill south of Lower Beth Horon.”

“From the hill facing Beth Horon on the south the boundary turned south along the western side and came out at Kiriath Baal (that is, Kiriath Jearim), a town of the people of Judah. This was the western side.”

The earliest crowd had arrived for the ethnic group of Benjamin in accordance with their tribes. Their assigned domain was placed between the ethnic groups of Joseph and Judah: on the northern side, their border opened at the Jordan, went beyond the northern inclination of Jericho, and made its way towards the west into the nation of the hills terminating at the forests and wild of Beth Aven. From that place, it stretched across the southern inclination of Luz, that is, Bethel, and moved down towards the Ataroth Addar on the high grounds that are on the south of Lower Beth Horon.
Kings 12:21
“When Rehoboam arrived in Jerusalem, he mustered the whole house of Judah and the tribe of Benjamin – a hundred and eighty thousand able young men – to make war against the house of Israel and to regain the kingdom for Rehoboam son of Solomon.”
And the time Rehoboam had come to Jerusalem, he brought all of Judah and the ethnic group of Benjamin together – assembled a hundred and eighty thousand competent juvenile men – to make their way to fight against Israel and take the province back for Rehoboam, the descendant of Solomon.

“Three sons of Benjamin: Bela, Beker and Jediael.”
Chronicles 7:7
“The sons of Bela: Ezbon, Uzzi, Uzziel, Jerimoth and Iri, heads of families – five in all. Their genealogical record listed 22,034 fighting men.”
Chronicles 7:8
“The sons of Beker: Zemirah, Joash, Eliezer, Elioenai, Omri, Jeremoth, Abijah, Anathoth and Alemeth. All these were the sons of Beker.”
The three descendants of Benjamin were Beker, Jediael, and Bela. The descendants of Bela were as follows: Uzziel, Ezbon, Eri, Uzzi, and Jerimoth; that is, there were five controllers of the families in total. Their genetic study research recorded twenty-two thousand and thirty-four men with the competency to fight. The descendants of Beker were as follows: Omri, Alemeth, Joash, Abijah, Eliezer, Jeremoth, Zemirah, Elioenai, and Anathoth. All of them were the descendants of Beker. Their genetic research study recorded twenty thousand and two hundred men with the capability to fight. The only offspring of Jediael was Bilhan, and the descendants of Bilhan were as follows: Zethan, Jeush, Ahishahar, Kennanah, Tarshish, Ehud, and Benjamin. All these were the progeny of Jediael, who was the controllers of the families, with seventeen thousand and two hundred men capable of fighting in the battleground among them. The Shuppites and Huppites were the successors of Ir, and the Hussites were the successors of Aher.
Judges 10:9
“The Ammonites also crossed the Jordan to fight against Judah, Benjamin and the house of Ephraim; and Israel was in great distress.”
The Ammonites also made their way across the Jordan in order to battle against Benjamin, Ephraim, and Judah; Israel was going through a lot of suffering and despair.
Samuel 10:20
“When Samuel had all Israel come forward by tribes, the tribe of Benjamin was taken by lot.”
Samuel 10:21
“Then he brought forward the tribe of Benjamin, clan by clan, and Matri’s clan was taken. Finally Saul son of Kish was taken. But when they looked for him, he was not to be found.”
At the time when Samuel had made each and every person of Israel step forward according to their clans, the ethnic group of Benjamin was considered as the first set. Then he put forward the ethnic group of Benjamin, tribe by tribe, and the tribe of Matri was chosen. At last, Saul, the descendant of Kish, was selected. But when they began to look for him, he was nowhere to be found.
Samuel 9:21
“Saul answered, “But am I not a Benjamite, from the smallest tribe of Israel, and is not my clan the least of all the clans of the tribe of Benjamin? Why do you say such a thing to me?”
And as a response, Saul said that he was not a Benjamite, who came from the most trivial clan of Israel, and he also claimed to know that when they thought about the tribe, he belonged from, of all the tribes why did they have the ethnic group of Benjamin in their mind. Why on earth would they comment such a thing about him?
Samuel 2:9
He will guard the feet of his faithful servants, but the wicked will be silenced in the place of darkness. “It is not by strength that one prevails;”
He was appointed as the monarch by him, over Jezreel, Gilead, and Ashuri, as well as over Benjamin, Ephraim, and each and every other person of Israel.
Samuel 2:15
But even before the fat was burned, the priest’s servant would come and say to the person who was sacrificing, “Give the priest some meat to roast; he won’t accept boiled meat from you, but only raw.”
And therefore they arose to their feet and were counted off – twelve of them were for Benjamin and Ish-Bosheth, the descendant of Saul, and twelve were for David.
Psalm 68:27
“There is the little tribe of Benjamin, leading them, there the great throng of Judah’s princes, and there the princes of Zebulun and of Naphtali.”
And then the small clan of Benjamin was present, leading their way, there is the large gathering of Judah’s monarchs, and there are the monarchs of Naphtali and Zebulun.
