The dog is a species of wolf that is often domesticated in houses and is one of the most famous pet animals.

Dogs have acquired great regard for their immense loyalty and devotion toward their master.

Dogs, whether they are pets in a household or roam around in the streets, have proven highly useful to mankind.

However, here are a few bible verses about dogs to help us understand their biblical references better.

Matthew 7:6

“Do not give dogs what is sacred; do not throw your pearls to pigs. If you do, they may trample them under their feet, and then turn and tear you to pieces.”

And on that account, you should not provide the dogs with things that are divine and sacred, nor should you cast away your precious pearls in front of a swine, just in case they walk all over your treasures with their barefoot and then change their course to pounce on you. 

Philippians 3:2

“Watch out for those dogs, those evildoers, those mutilators of the flesh.”

And on that account, you should be alert about dogs and keep your eyes open for the miscreants and people who carry out sinful acts, beware of all those who cause mutilation to the flesh.

As a dog returns to its vomit, so fools repeat their folly.

And on that account, a foolish man who persistently performs the same foolishness, again and again, is similar to a dog that goes back to his own puke.

There was a wealthy and affluent person who was dressed in purple and linen of excellent quality and who lavishly dined on each and every day. And there was a deprived and underprivileged man smothered with wounds and cuts, lying at his doorstep, known by the name of Lazarus, who deeply wanted to consume the bits of food that dropped down from the table of the wealthy man.

“The wolf will live with the lamb, the leopard will lie down with the goat, the calf and the lion and the yearling together; and a little child will lead them.”

They shall not cause any harm or destruction in all the divine hills that are mine, and this is because the world shall be filled with the teachings of the almighty Heavenly Father, the Supreme Being of all the universe, as the water acts as a shelter to the sea.

Isaiah 56:9

“Come, all you beasts of the field, come and devour, all you beasts of the forest!”

“Israel’s watchmen are blind, they all lack knowledge; they are all mute dogs, they cannot bark; they lie around and dream, they love to sleep.”

And on that account, you should tell him whatever the almighty Heavenly Father, the Supreme Being of all the universe, has conveyed to you. You should tell them that the holy Lord has questioned if anyone among them had committed murder and then taken complete responsibility for his actions. In addition, you should say that as a result, the good God has said that at the site where the dogs had drank up the blood of Naboth, in the same place, the dogs will drink up your own blood. 

Matthew 15:26

He replied, “It is not right to take the children’s bread and toss it to the dogs.”

And he said in response that it is not a fair and righteous act to get hold of the children’s meal and toss it in front of the dogs. 

Samuel 9:8

The servant answered him again. “Look,” he said, “I have a quarter of a shekel of silver. I will give it to the man of God so that he will tell us what way to take.”

And on that account, he sang the songs of praises and asked him what is the man who was under his service, that he began to display respect for a deadened dog like him.

“Dogs surround me, a pack of villains encircles me; they pierce my hands and my feet.”

The affluent man also perished and was consigned to the grave, and when he was in pain and agony in Hades, he raised his eyelids to witness that Abraham was at a great distance from him and Lazarus was by his side. 

Deuteronomy 23:18

“You must not bring the earnings of a female prostitute or of a male prostitute into the house of the LORD your God to pay any vow, because the LORD your God detests them both.”

Kings 22:38

“They washed the chariot at a pool in Samaria and the dogs licked up his blood, as the word of the LORD had declared.”

And they cleansed the horse-carriage that was situated by the side of the pond of Samaria, and the dogs stuck their tongue in his blood, and the harlots took a bath in it, in accordance with the all the things that were said by the almighty Heavenly Father, the Supreme Being of all the universe, through his teachings. 

Exodus 22:31

“You are to be my holy people. So do not eat the meat of an animal torn by wild beasts; throw it to the dogs.”

And on that account, you will be made holy to me. And as a consequence of that, you shall no more be able to consume any meat that is shredded into pieces by animals in the meadows; you will take them and toss them in front of the dogs. 

Isaiah 56:11

“They are dogs with mighty appetites; they never have enough. They are shepherds who lack understanding; they all turn to their own way, they seek their own gain.”

And on that account, the dogs have a huge hunger for food; they are never satisfied with what they consume. But they happen to be herdsmen who did not have any knowledge or education; all of them have adapted to their own method, all of them to their own benefit, each and every one of them. 

Psalm 22:20

“Deliver me from the sword, my precious life from the power of the dogs.”

And on that account, I beseech you to save my spirit from the blade of the sword, my priceless existence from the powers of the dog. 

Psalm 59:6

“They return at evening, snarling like dogs, and prowl about the city.”

And on that account, they get back during each and every late afternoon, barking like dogs and moving stealthily all around the streets of the town. 

Isaiah 11:9

“They will neither harm nor destroy on all my holy mountain, for the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the LORD as the waters cover the sea.”

And on that account, the wolf will be roaming around with the sheep, and the leopard will be sleeping next to the young goat, and the young cow and the fat, thick calf and the lion, will all be led by together by a small innocent boy. “Like one who grabs a stray dog by the ears is someone who rushes into a quarrel not their own.”

And on that account, all the people who interfere in a fight other than his own, is similar to a person who lays hold of a dog by his ears. 

Peter 2:22

“He committed no sin, and no deceit was found in his mouth.”

And on that account, whatever had been mentioned in the proverb, has turned out to be true for them. The proverb says that the dog comes back to its own puke, and the female pig, after cleansing her body, comes back to splash about in the mud and dirt. 

Isaiah 56:12

“Come,” each one cries, “let me get wine! Let us drink our fill of beer! And tomorrow will be like today, or even far better.”

And on that account, each and every animal that lives on the land has come to feed – each and every animal that lives in the jungle.  

Samuel 17:43

“He said to David, “Am I a dog, that you come at me with sticks?” And the Philistine cursed David by his gods.”

And on that account, the Philistine uttered the words to David asking if he was a dog that David made his way towards him with a piece of wood. And as a result, the Philistine put a curse on David using the name of his gods. 

Kings 21:23

“And also concerning Jezebel the LORD says: ‘Dogs will devour Jezebel by the wall of Jezreel.”
