55+ Bible Verses About Apostasy And Dropping the Faith

Apostasy is the rejection or dismissal of any religion or beliefs by any person. In Christianity, apostasy is the decline of faith in Christ by one who claims himself to be a Christian. Anyone who turns their hand to “apostasy” is known as an apostate.

Though a biblical theory, apostasy holds high importance to date as it did in the past. Here are a few references from the Bible verses to help one understand the concept of apostasy better.

What Does The Bible Say About Apostasy?

Thessalonians 2:3

“For the appeal we make does not spring from error or impure motives, nor are we trying to trick you.”

Bible Verses About Apostasy And Dropping the Faith

You should not let yourself be fooled by any person in any way, for it is unlikely for the miscreant to be disclosed and punished for his sins anytime soon until the rebellion takes place.

Daniel 9:27

“He will confirm a covenant with many for one ‘seven.’ In the middle of the ‘seven’ he will put an end to sacrifice and offering. And at the temple he will set up an abomination that causes desolation, until the end that is decreed is poured out on him.”

He will make a contract with a lot of people for a “seven,” and in the middle of that “seven,” sacrifice and offering will be eradicated.

Timothy 4:1

“The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons.”

The Spirit explicitly reveals that in the near future, there will be people who renounce God and stop putting their faith in him. Instead, they will confide in evil spirits and follow the teachings of demons.

Hebrews 3:12

“See to it, brothers and sisters, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God.”

No people should carry a corrupt, agnostic heart that can repel the living God at any point in time.

Corinthians 6:9

“Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor practicing homosexuals.”

Had it been in your knowledge that the Almighty would not bequeath his kingdom to those who are committing sin? Do not fall prey to deceit. Neither will promiscuous beings nor adulterers nor idolaters or men who copulate with other men be able to inherit the kingdom of God.

Luke 8:13

“Those on the rock are the ones who receive the word with joy when they hear it, but they have no root. They believe for a while, but in the time of testing they fall away.”

Those are the ones more likely to face hardships who hear everything with joy, having no urge to raise questions. They are baseless.

“If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left.”

Hebrews 10:27

“But only a fearful expectation of judgment and of raging fire that will consume the enemies of God.”

If we consciously commit sins even after being enlightened with the truth, no sacrifice can save us anymore. All that is left is the endurance of shame and judgment and of the incensed fire that consumes devils.

Hebrews 10:28

“Anyone who rejected the law of Moses died without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses.”

Nice Bible Verses About Apostasy And Dropping The Faith

Hebrews 10:29

“How much more severely do you think those deserve to be punished who have trampled the Son of God underfoot, who have treated as an unholy thing the blood of the covenant that sanctified them, and who have insulted the Spirit of grace?”

All those who refused to follow the laws of Moses died a relentless death in the presence of only two or three witnesses. After all, how much more agonizing can someone’s damnation be, someone who walked over the Son of God, who regarded the blood of God’s covenant that blessed them as something unworthy and unholy, and who brought shame on the Spirit of grace?

Timothy 4:4

“For everything God created is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving.”

There will be a time when people will no longer follow the reasonable dogmas and doctrines; instead, they will surround themselves with preachers who preach what their ears crave to hear in order to quench their own selfish thirsts. They will be deaf to the truth and discard myths.

John 15:6

“If you do not remain in me, you are like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned.”

If you refuse to stay in me, you are like a tree branch that is discarded from the tree and eventually decays; such branches are picked up and hurled into the fire. Ashes are what’s left of them.

Timothy 4:2

“Such teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron.”

It has been clearly mentioned by the Spirit that in the future, there will be a time when some will turn their back on faith and run after the evil spirits and deceitful things demons teach. Such things are taught by pretentious liars whose virtues seem to have been charred with a hot iron.

Peter 2:1

“Therefore, rid yourselves of all malice and all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and slander of every kind.”

There are several fake teachers among you. In a similar way, there are many fake prophets all around. How cunningly they will ventilate marrying skepticism and commit blasphemy, to such an extent that they even dismiss the Almighty and call sweet havoc on themselves.

Due to the multiplying viciousness all around, the pure love of many will be smothered and gradually wither.

Matthew 24:9

“Then you will be handed over to be persecuted and put to death, and you will be hated by all nations because of me.”

And when you will be sent for persecution and put to death, a hatred for you will be aroused in all the nations because of me. At such time, many will lose faith, turn their back on honesty and start betraying and hating one another.

Wonderful Bible Verses About Apostasy And Dropping The Faith

The one called Judas Iscariot, one of the twelve, walked up to the chief priest and asked him what they were willing to offer Judas if he handed Lord Jesus over to them. They offered him thirty pieces of silver if he stayed true to his words, and so Judas began looking for opportunities to turn in the Son of God.

John 2:19

Jesus answered them, “Destroy this temple, and I will raise it again in three days.”

They abandoned us but were they ever really owned by us? Don’t you think they would have stayed with us if they had truly belonged to us? But their departure is proof enough for us to believe that none of them were ever a part of us.

Jeremiah 17:5

Jeremiah 17:6

“They will be like a bush in the wastelands; they will not see prosperity when it comes. They will dwell in the parched places of the desert, in a salt land where no one lives.”

And the Lord said that the people who choose to trust in other people are damned, who seem to derive power from mere humans and have a heart that rejects the Almighty. Such a person is like a thicket in a wild, unused land that fails to notice the bed of roses that comes it’s way. They seem to reside in arid places like deserts, in salt lands where no soul is found.

Ezekiel 3:20

“Again, when the righteous turn from their righteousness and do evil, and I put a stumbling block before them, they will die. Since you did not warn them, they will die for their sins. The righteous things they did will not be remembered, and I will hold you accountable for their blood.”

Every time a moral person quits their morality and leans towards malice and ends up doing something that an evil person by nature does, the Almighty places a block before them, on which they trip and die. Since they were not alerted by you, they will have to die for their sins. The good deeds that they did will not be counted, and you will be blamed for their demise.

Corinthians 9:27

“No, I strike a blow to my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.”

As I preach to other people, I shall fight with my body, against my body if necessary, in order to bring it entirely under the command of my mind, so that I too practice what I preach, so that I too can count myself in the game and be eligible to have a chance at winning the prize.
